Still life with a thoughtful surprise.
On Wednesday when I arrived at daycare to collect the girls, E spotted me in the doorway of her classroom and screamed. Mama! I have a surprise for you! You can't see it! It's in my cubby so you can't look in my cubby!
The she presented me with wads of leafy sticks. Her teacher told me she'd spent all of their outdoors-time collecting them for me, both in the morning and again after nap. They're flowers, Mama! I picked them just for you. Surprise!
We oh-so-carefully brought them home. Mama! They need a big cup thing! Just like Daddy's flowers to you!
"A vase, my love?"
Yes! I didn't know that word!
I pulled one of my favorite vases down from the shelf and with the exuberance of a three-year-old she shoved every piece of every leafy stick straight into the depths of the vase.
Mama. We need to give them water now. So they stay pretty.
And so we did.
