Understanding one's parents

My dad always teases my mom in an exasperated way about her TV habits. The television is always on, he says. She's not even watching it, he says. She fell asleep to it! For crying out loud! he says.

I'm guessing it's like alcohol or drugs. Maybe only a little TV could bring relief, once, but after years on the sauce, hell, let's sign her up for a satellite dish.

I think I understand her motivations. After a long day (hypothetically, such as today) at home with two children, I'm just being struck with appreciation for the pleasure of IGNORABLE NOISE. Pin It

Forget the satelite dish - we have digital cable and a dvr!
